PKV’s new 45-page sustainability report for 2023 documents the progress made by PKV in various areas of sustainability for all interested parties in accordance with the recognized rules of the Deutscher Nachhaltigkeits-Kodex (DNK). It is freely available on the PKV website.

PKV’s efforts are being rewarded: in the globally recognized EcoVadis rating for sustainability performance, PKV has received a platinum medal for its activities and progress in 2024 (for 2023) for the first time – the highest award for the top one percent of all companies assessed.

In its new sustainability report, PKV reports, among other things, on the interim status of the plans for the company’s path to climate neutrality, which began at the end of 2022 and were published this year. According to PKV shareholder Kristian Evers, “as a company, we are contributing to a perfect cycle: If biogenic packaging material is turned into new material again and again in climate-neutral recycling cycles, then we have maximum benefit for people and products – and maximum conservation of resources at the same time. This vision drives us!”

These other topics from the report were added in 2023 (selection):

  • Sustainable developments in our supply chain: PKV reports on new regular risk analyses of our business partners in order to review and ensure compliance with human rights and environmental criteria.
  • Further development of the sustainability strategy: Further relevant sustainability tasks of PKV have been defined with operational targets and measures. This also marks the start of intensive preparations for further sustainability reporting standards at EU level, which may become mandatory for the PKV in the coming years.

More transparency on indirect greenhouse gas emissions: Compared to previous years, PKV has been able to record indirect greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 3, including fuel-related emissions from the upstream chain, purchased goods and the processing of our products) more comprehensively and in greater detail with external support – an important condition for the design of the decarbonization pathway published in 2025.
